LEAN BUSINESS SYSTEM DESIGN
Implementing Lean Business Systems for top performances
Implementing Lean Business Systems for top performances
When implementing lean management, most companies look to production systems such as the Toyota Production System (TPS) and try to become the next Toyota in their industry. However, the principles of lean management must always be specifically adapted for all business areas and functions within the company; a simple attempt to copy TPS by focusing on methods application does not work.
We are concentrating our efforts on building your own “Lean Business System”, i.e. a comprehensive business system based on lean principles that is fitted to your culture. We have many years of experience in building business systems for our customers and support organizations in building their “business system” in a results-oriented manner.
We align the company, corporate culture and behavior with the principles and methods of Lean Management or Just-In-Time, Lean Six Sigma and agility. The resulting business system is not purely operational or production-oriented, but applies to the entire company and all business functions. We integrate the various system components with one another:
In building a custom Business System, we combine our services for strategy deployment, Lean Management and Lean Six Sigma as well as on-site project implementation. In addition to imparting knowledge about tools and methods, we also enable your organization to use them company-wide!
A first step in the further development of the business system is an assessment of the initial situation. To do this, we carry out a system assessment in which we evaluate existing structures and systems in a structured and methodical manner and identify potential for change. Based on the assessment results, we identify potential, jointly define a roadmap for systemic development with you and define the first steps.
The system evaluation represents a manageable amount of effort. The results of our evaluation of the business system alone are of benefit to our customers. Based on the results, we can immediately make recommendations for action. We also recommend what not to do, which order of implementation makes sense and what time frame should be expected for the expansion of the business system.
Concrete results such as efficiency, effectiveness, flexibility, quality, delivery reliability and impact on costs can be expected when working with us. The most important results, however, are indispensable but not immediately visible: A business system is supported by its culture, the behavior and mindset of people.
A business system that is holistically aligned with the principles of organizational excellence does not emerge overnight and many beliefs must be challenged on the way to the desired future state. That is why we work with our clients in a spirit of trust based on a long-term implementation plan that considers the various stages of development of a business system.
No method helps without organizational learning taking place. That is why developing the ability for organizational learning is the most important building block in the business system. We practice organizational learning with your managers and integrate routines for leadership and improvement into everyday business life.
To do this, we implement the principles of “Kata” (Japanese for “exercise form”) as behavioral routines and thought patterns for improvement (improvement kata) and leadership (coaching kata) and practice these with your managers until they become part of everyday practice. Our coaching process is proven, tested and effective and is supported by a clear division of the roles of the coaches, the managers being supported and other participants.
The further development of a business system requires the participation of all hierarchical levels in the company: from top management to the shop floor at the place where value is created. We anchor the cultural change in the company on proven, tested and effective coaching for managers.
We involve the upper to middle management levels in the work on the business system. As part of systemic management, we work with the managers in the company on the basis of a specific focus on the reflection level.
We are a reliable partner in the design of lean business systems and support our customers in this process over the long term. We are not only methodologically adept, but also clearly explain where the priorities lie and what needs to be done.
